Ahead of their May comeback, GOT7 totally rebranded.

They revealed a new logo and announced brand new social media channels, including Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. Both their Instagram and TikTok handles are the phrase “GOT7 is our name.”

Since GOT7 is no longer under JYP Entertainment, the members created the new accounts for the group since all original accounts are naturally linked to the company.

So, for the past couple of months, there have been two verified accounts across social media platforms. Of course, in time for the comeback, Twitter had verified the new account and even released customized related hashtags, but the bird app is an Ahgase, after all.

On the other hand, Instagram did not verify GOT7’s new account (@got7_isourname) until now.

Yet, with one verification comes the loss of another. So, the original GOT7 account (@got7.with.igot7) is no longer verified.

It was unexpected that one would lose verification for the other since the original was legitimately GOT7 too. Besides, Twitter still has both verified. Additionally, the original Instagram account has over 7.1m followers, while the new has 1.1m.

Still, the original will likely never be used again. So, it’s understandable that it would lose verification.

It’s actually possible all original GOT7 accounts could lose verification, too, considering the members are the ones to own all trademark rights for GOT7 now. Read more below:
