IVE’s Jang Wonyoung Accused Of Wearing Old Seasons’ Clothes To A Fashion Show But MiuMiu Stepped Up To Debunk The Claims

MiuMiu released an official statement to defend her.

IVE‘s Jang Wonyoung recently made a splash when she attended MiuMiu‘s fashion show in Paris. She wore a navy cardigan with gold buttons and contrast pockets. She paired the preppy look with denim lowrise cut-offs and a chunky belt.

As people tried searching for her outfit, a netizen spotted a similar-looking piece from the brand’s 2020 S/S collection. Many took this as the truth and began criticizing Wonyoung for resorting to a piece from 6 seasons ago. In particular, a well-known malicious monger, SOJANG, posted a video that accused Wonyoung of buying the clothes secondhand. This is as stores would not sell clothes from 6 seasons ago any longer.

The video invited much hate on Wonyoung as netizens began accusing her of paying her way into the show. As ambassadors are usually given clothes to wear from the latest line, it was questioned why Wonyoung was not wearing clothes from a newer season. Her invitation’s legitimacy was brought into doubt.

On October 12, 2022, the brand itself stepped up to clarify the matter. According to them, the item was from the next year’s spring season and was not yet released. MiuMiu posted on their social media:

The product Jang Wonyoung was wearing is from the unreleased MiuMiu Holiday Collection 2023 and it will be made public through our campaign in November.

Despite the clarification, the video from SOJANG still remains up.
