IVE’s Yujin Faces Backlash For Allegedly Derogatory Remarks About Korean Traditional Medicine
IVE‘s Yujin is currently in hot waters over her remarks about Korean traditional medicine.

The comments in concern were made during her appearance on Salon Drip 2 on the YouTube channel TEO. When MC Jang Do Yeon asked her if she had any driving-related fantasies after obtaining her driving license, Yujin humorously responded that it was her “dream” to handle insurance claims by herself because it seemed like the ultimate sign of a grownup.
I mean, you have to know how to file them! That’s how you become an adult…I let other people handle a lot of things but insurance…I’ll take care of that myself!
— Yujin
Jang then asked if she had ever imagined scenarios where she would get out of her car and dramatically grab her neck to feign an injury after a minor accident for insurance claim purposes. Yujin responded that she actually had, given how dramas often depict scenes like those. But her comment that followed has now landed her in trouble.
Yujin added that she had also read on the internet that in such situations, when one is not at fault in the accident but the other party is, they should go to a Korean medicine hospital. This statement cracked up the entire room, as it referenced the many incidents where Korean medicine hospitals received criticism for overcharging insurance claims through inflated medical expenses.
This comment has sparked some heated reactions from netizens, who defended Korean medicine practitioners. “There are many ethical doctors who practice honestly,” one of them commented, labeling Yujin’s remarks as careless. However, many agreed with the idol as well, with comments such as, “It is true that there are many cases of oriental medicine hospitals inflating medical fees in the event of a traffic accident,” and “The very fact that such remarks are being made is evidence of the public’s distrust of Korean medicine doctors and Korean medicine hospitals.”
Meanwhile, IVE have recently made their comeback with their new EP IVE EMPATHY and the title track, “ATTITUDE.”
