Popular K-Drama Actor Hasn’t Told His Daughter About His High-Profile Career Just Yet
In the latest episode of tvN‘s You Quiz On The Block, actor Jo Woo Jin (also known as Cho Woo Jin), who is adored for his scene-stealing supporting roles across multiple hit K-Dramas and K-Movies, shared his feelings about his wife and daughter.
Revealing that he’s a “goose father,” a term used in Korea to describe fathers who live apart from their families to support them, Jo Woo Jin talked about how much he misses them. He added that he never, ever turns down when his daughter asks him to spend time with her, calling himself a “complete idiot for her.”
I’ve been a goose father for three years now. When I go home, there’s no one there. I really miss my daughter. Of course, I miss my wife too…When we’re together, I try to stick as close as possible, emotionally and physically. Whenever my daughter says, ‘Dad, let’s play,’ I do, no matter how tired I might be. I’m a complete idiot when it comes to her.

Then, the actor revealed that his nine-year-old daughter actually has no idea what he does for a living! Jo Woo Jin explained that he wanted to hold off on telling her about his high-profile acting career until “her sense of self is formed.”
We don’t watch much TV at home, and I want her to fully accept my job as an actor once her sense of self is formed. She’s at that age where she could go outside and just say, ‘Hey, my dad is on TV,’ so I’ve been extra cautious.
I once went to pick her up from her school wearing a mask and sunglasses, and the teacher asked me straight up, ‘What do you do for a living?’ After that day, I never went back.

Jo Woo Jin said he plans on telling his daughter next year, although he guessed that she might already know all about it.
Actually, Yoon Jong Shin and director Jang Hang Joon told me, ‘Your daughter probably already knows.’ So, we’ll see when I finally tell her next year. There is a chance she’ll be like, ‘I already know, dad.’
