Highly Anticipated K-Drama Ends In A “Flop” Despite Star-Studded Cast

More K-Dramas have been struggling to keep the viewers intrigued, regardless of how fancy a cast they promise.

JTBC is usually a K-Drama powerhouse, but sometimes—even with a star-studded cast—things don’t always work out that well.

The weekend series, My Youth, featuring high-profile actors like Song Joong Ki and Chun Woo Hee, aired its grand finale on October 17, 2025 (KST). With the two characters reuniting after being apart and missing each other for a long time, the K-Drama ended on an emotionally resonant note that lingered with the viewers.

But even with the warm, happy ending, My Youth failed to break past the 2% viewership rating mark. According to Nielsen Korea on October 18, the 12th and final episode of My Youth recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 2.1% (paid households).

The show had premiered at 2.9%, but by episode 7 its rating had dropped to 1.5%. Throughout its run,  My Youth hovered around the 1–2% range, bringing in only modest ratings for the anticipation that it had previously drawn.

My Youth is not the only K-Drama to “flop” despite the big-name actors playing the characters. More K-Dramas have been struggling to keep the viewers intrigued, regardless of how fancy a cast they promise.
