Popular Idol Announces Enlistment Date, Just After Group Reunion Announcement

Singer Kang Daniel will enlist in the military this February.

According to OSEN, Kang Daniel will enlist as an active-duty soldier in the Army on February 9. This marks the start of his military hiatus nine years after debuting with Wanna One in 2017.

Kang Daniel has previously shared his honest and calm thoughts about enlistment through interviews and broadcasts. In an interview related to the release of his fifth mini album ACT in 2024, he said, “I plan to work hard up until I enlist. I’ve also planned songs to release before entering the military,” adding, “I also have plans prepared for after my discharge.

After releasing a special album last December, Kang Daniel held the fan concert 2025 KANGDANIEL FAN CONCERT [RUNWAY : WALK TO DANIEL] and met fans one last time before enlistment. He is expected to enlist after partially participating in the filming of Wanna One’s reality show.

Earlier, Wanna One drew attention after it was revealed that they would reunite for a reality show for the first time in seven years. In response to fans asking about this, Kang Daniel remarked, “I’ll probably be studying abroad next year, so I think I’ll be able to join for the intro at least,” humorously likening his enlistment to studying abroad.

Meanwhile, Kang Daniel debuted as a member of Wanna One through Mnet’s audition program Produce 101 Season 2 in 2017 and received immense love. He later debuted as a solo artist in July 2019 and has remained active not only as a singer but also as an MC on various programs.
