A Shooting In Korea: Chilling News of Father Killing Son Shakes The Nation
On July 20, 2025 (KST), the Incheon Yeonsu Police Station received a call from an apartment complex in Songdo International City. The report stated, “My father-in-law just shot my husband.”
According to the police, a man in his 30s was found lying unconscious at the scene. He was transported to the hospital, but unfortunately, he passed away after going into cardiac arrest.

A special police unit was dispatched to track down the suspect, the victim’s father, identified as a man in his 60s. After fleeing the scene and hiding for three hours, the suspect was captured in Seoul.
A resident from the apartment complex told News1, “I heard a loud bang out of nowhere… I can’t believe a shooting happened in Korea.” Another resident added, “My hands are still shaking. I don’t understand how something like this could happen in our neighborhood.”

The father and son were, reportedly, celebrating the father’s birthday. The father then told the family that he was leaving for a convenience store. But when he returned, he had a homemade firearm which he used to shoot his son.
In his statement to the police, the father also claimed that he had installed explosives at his home in Seoul. As a result, 105 residents from the Seoul apartment were evacuated as the special forces searched. The Seoul Metropolitan Police did locate at least 15 cases of flammable material and other improvised explosives, including gasoline and a timer, at the suspect’s residence and successfully removed them.

A police official stated the motive behind the brutal murder of his son remains unknown at this time.
