The 5 Male K-Pop Idols Chosen As The Biggest Role Models For “Boys Planet” Contestants

One is a fourth-generation idol!

With the reveal of all of the 98 contestants participating on Boys Planet, the profiles of each of them were also shared with the public. Their profiles each contained information about the contestants, including their training time, MBTI type, hobbies, favorite song, and much more.

Also included in the profile are the role models that each of the contestants has that inspire them to pursue their idol careers!

With so many contestants involved with different backgrounds and interests, it’s not surprising that their choices of role models vary quite a bit. From western artists to both male and female K-Pop idols, there are many different musicians included in the list of role models for the Boys Planet participants.

However, there were some male K-Pop idols whose names appeared multiple times on these profiles, with five in particular mentioned more than others.

Perhaps most surprisingly in the top five is TXT‘s Yeonjun, who was mentioned six times. While it’s not surprising in terms of his talent — he’s certainly an incredible performer with many impressive skills — he’s still fairly young in the industry as a fourth-generation idol. It’s great to see him get so much recognition already!

Kai, the charismatic and captivating main dancer of EXO, was also mentioned on six different contestant profiles. Given his nearly decade-long career as a K-Pop idol and his status as an incredible performer, it isn’t too surprising that he’s a role model to many trainees trying to become idols themselves!

The K-Pop idol with the next highest number of mentions is NCT‘s Mark, listed on seven contestant profiles. He, along with Yeonjun, are the youngest idols in age included in this top five — both are just 23 years old — but there are already so many people looking up to him! And he deserves it, considering how multi-talented he is in so many fields of K-Pop.

The list wouldn’t be complete without a BTS member, and Jungkook is the K-Pop idol mentioned the second-most times with eight appearances on contestant profiles. The group’s golden maknae continues to be an inspiration to others going into his tenth year in the industry, and his influence as a phenomenal performer doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon!

Jungkook (BTS)

Finally, the K-Pop idol with the most mentions — appearing on nine profiles — is SHINee‘s Taemin. As both the oldest age-wise and experience-wise in the top five, his nearly fifteen years spent as one of the industry’s top performers and most notable dancers makes him well-deserving of so many people looking up to him!

Other K-Pop idols mentioned by multiple contestants on Boys Planet are BIGBANG‘s Taeyang (mentioned five times), EXO’s Baekhyun, NCT’s Taeyong, and BTS’s V (each mentioned four times).

Here’s how netizens are reacting to the five K-Pop idols with the most mentions of being a role model for the survival show’s contestants.

  • “I really agree with Jungkook”
  • “Taemin and Jungkook are my men, the rest of the idols are also freaking likable”

  • “TXT are super likable, it hasn’t been that much time since the debut introduction video was out and now he’s already being mentioned as a role model, he grew up well”
