Lee Chaeyeon Reveals Details Of The Off-Screen Reunion Of Former IZ*ONE Members

She got honest about the current dynamic of the group members.

Soloist Lee Chaeyeon recently made her much-anticipated comeback with the single album, The Move: Street, and the title song “Let’s Dance.” Ahead of this release, the singer sat down with Korean media outlets and talked about her past, present, and future as a K-Pop artist.

Chaeyeon was a part of the legendary lineup of IZ*ONE, the girl group formed through Mnet’s survival program Produce48. The group was active for a short period between 2019 and 2021, yet managed to cement itself as one of the most memorable teams in fourth-generation K-Pop.

During Chaeyeon’s recent interview, the “Knock” singer revealed that despite their different career paths, all the IZ*ONE members are still in touch and maintain a close friendship.

I’m really glad to see that all the members are all doing well and are settling down to their respective positions. We tell each other that we are so proud of ourselves…. The group chat is still active and we are close.

— Lee Chaeyeon

Chaeyeon also mentioned that they celebrated Wonyoung’s birthday in their chatroom, showing that their sisterly love toward the IZ*ONE maknae is unchanged.

While fans have been hoping for an iconic reunion of all twelve members of the group, it hasn’t been possible so far, given the different career directions of the members since IZ*ONE’s disbandment. Six of the girls, Choi Yena, Kwon Eunbi, Kang Hyewon, Kim Minju, Jo Yuri, and Chaeyeon, chose to go solo, while Sakura and Chaewon re-debuted with LE SSERAFIM. Wonyoung and Yujin re-debuted with IVE, and Yabuki Nako and Honda Hitomi returned to Japan to resume their idol activities there.

Though an on-camera reunion might not be possible yet, Chaeyeon revealed that the members actually had an in-person reunion where ten of them gathered together. Two members couldn’t join because of their personal schedules.

We told each other we should meet up once a year. When we meet, it feels like we all become high school girls.
