Actor Lee Dong Hwi found himself the subject of playful ridicule on the latest episode of MBC’s I Live Alone when he arrived in a vintage-esque outfit that had the whole cast joking he looked like a “beggar,” only for it to turn out that his look was actually comprised of a high-end piece.

In the episode, Lee Dong Hwi was seen heading to Busan alongside musician Code Kunst. When the actor stepped out at Seoul Station in an ensemble with multiple holes and a visibly worn aesthetic, fellow cast members and guests couldn’t help but tease him about it.

Jun Hyun Moo quipped that while Lee Dong Hwi is known to dress well most of the time, “that outfit has turned him into Pumbaa” (a derisive Korean term for a beggar), stirring laughter among the group. Code Kunst poked fun at the ragged look, while some joked that Lee Dong Hwi might have tripped on his way there because the clothing looked so distressed.

Lee Dong Hwi explained that what seemed like a “bad outfit choice” to others was actually part of his personal style and came from brands he genuinely likes. He acknowledged that it could be misunderstood, even though each piece was carefully selected.

In fact, what initially looked like a thrown-together Pumbaa outfit turned out to be anything but cheap. Viewers later discovered that Lee Dong Hwi’s heavily distressed outerwear was actually a designer item, currently listed for sale at ₩3.86 million KRW (about $2,680 USD).

The reveal completely flipped the joke, turning what seemed like ragged streetwear into a high-fashion flex, and leaving both the cast and viewers amused by the unexpected price tag!
