The Marvel Cinematic Universe is filled with K-Pop fans!

Recently, Chris Pratt has been promoting his new movie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, in which he plays the one and only Mario. Yet, he will soon reprise his role as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in Marvel Studios‘ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

So, Chris Pratt, director James Gunn, and co-stars Pom Klementieff and Karen Gillan have begun international promotions for the new Marvel film. He revealed that he had listened to K-Pop in a press conference at the Conrod Hotel in Seoul, South Korea, on April 18.

Chris Pratt had nothing but praise for South Korea. He recognized the country’s phenomenal artistic achievements in film and music.

I feel like, globally, Korea is having an extraordinary moment right now. Not only in the movies but in music with a lot of really great pop bands.

Chris Pratt revealed he was becoming quite the K-Pop fan, with his favorite groups so far being BLACKPINK and NewJeans. Yet, he accidentally misspoke, and his co-star, Karen Gillan, who portrays Nebula, corrected him instantly.

I think PINKBLACK… I mean BLACKPINK was opening at Coachella which was really exciting. And NewJeans. We were listening to it, and I was like, ‘This is actually very good pop music.’ I feel like it’s exciting that there are massive cultural moments happening right now in Korea. You’ve been doing amazing things here for a long time…

Karen Gillan shared that she listened to BTS and BLACKPINK’s songs to prepare for the Korean press conference. She also expressed that she’d love to meet them with a laugh.

I’ve been listening to BLACKPINK this morning and BTS to get into the spirit. Can we meet them? That’d be cool! I love Korea!
