Model Kim Jong Suk’s Death Gets Muddied With Rumors Of His Involvement In A Suicide Case
On June 9, 2025, his older sister issued a post on social media to deny the claims. She shared a lengthy post and audio recordings on her SNS. She began by denying the claims of attack. She explained that he had been under severe financial stress after an investment scam.
“The claims that he barged into his girlfriend’s home drunk, caused a disturbance with a soju bottle, and jumped when the police arrived are not true. He was under extreme financial and emotional distress due to an investment scam committed by an acquaintance. Not only did he lose his entire fortune, but he also fell into debt from the fraud, making daily life difficult. He was exhausted from these circumstances and had been deep in thought for some time.”
She also corrected the reported details surrounding the 911 call and his death.
“Jong Suk and his girlfriend were drinking separately with their own acquaintances. When he couldn’t reach her, he became worried and went to her home with a friend. His girlfriend, her sister, and her sister’s boyfriend were asleep, and Jong Suk, his friend, and another male acquaintance who was awake chatted and even joked around. Later, when his girlfriend woke up, there was no unilateral assault or rampage — just a simple argument between the couple.”
She further explained that the soju bottle in the claims was broken by accident.
“As others tried to intervene and tensions seemed to rise, Jong Suk’s friend broke a soju bottle in an attempt to stop the argument, which led to the police being called. The claims that he ran away or tried to avoid the police are also untrue.”
His sister promises to later share audio recordings from the police and Kim’s friend, as well as his texts with his girlfriend. Kim Jong Suk passed away on June 4, 2025. He was an active fashion model who gained popularity through a promotional video for the men’s cosmetic brand Dashu.
