It has been belatedly revealed that back in 2015, the then 27-year-old table tennis player unknowingly posed for MAXIM Korea magazine. MAXIM magazine is famously known for being a men’s publication, with its content including risqué photos of women from all over the world. In a 2016 interview, Suh Hyo Won shared that she remembers modeling for some photos, but that she had no idea it would be for the men’s magazine.

I received a modeling offer from them. My coach and I both assumed it was for the coffee brand. I really like Maxim coffee.

Maxim Coffee is a famous South Korean coffee brand, known for its convenient single serving coffee sticks. These coffee sticks have quickly become a staple in the Korean culture and can often be found in all types of Korean office settings, homes, etc. Due to the two brands’ same name, the table tennis player thought she was posing for the coffee company and not the magazine company.

The table tennis player further revealed that she found out about her risqué magazine spread on her own.

I was curious about the photos so I searched them up online. ‘It’s not this right?’ was my initial thought when I saw that it was for the men’s magazine. My body isn’t really nice. Even my coach knows that. My coach said ‘You can’t do that. If you do, it’ll be disastrous.’ So I responded, ‘I know I won’t.’  But we ended up shooting and here we are.
