Netizens Defend IVE’s Leeseo From Hate Regarding Her Teary Acceptance Speech
IVE’s Leeseo recently took home a Daesang at the 2023 Melon Music Awards. She took her turn with the microphone, giving an adorable acceptance speech.

Although she delivered a heartfelt speech, she received criticism from a portion of netizens for “acting cute” and “fake crying.” Others even criticized the teen for being unable to contain her feelings.

Some comments compared her to NewJeans’ maknae Hyein, who is even younger than Leeseo. Hyein delivered her speech calmly.
Why people can’t help but curse at Leeseo is because Hyein is only 16. Although Leeseo is young too, Hyein who is younger than her, managed to continue her thank you speech calmly even though she was teary. Leeseo, who is older, was unable to control her tears and couldn’t speak properly. Her professionalism did not live up to her group’s popularity.

- What’s f*cking dumbfounding is how people hate on IVE for crying and on NewJeans for not. What do they want?
- FR, it’s not like she impeded other people’s speeches or the ceremony by crouching down while crying on the stage. People are just raring to have a go at her.
- In the first place, why is that comment saying it’s okay to hate on her for that? Who are they? Judging from their TikTok, seems like they’re an elementary schooler.
