Girl group NewJeans has just made their comeback with “Ditto.” This is their second release of the year, after debuting double titles with “Hype Boy” and “Attention.” Although “Ditto” is only a b-side track, it quickly became popular with the public, and the girls hit the number one spot on the Melon 24h charts.
They became the girl group with the most listeners within the first 24h of release. With 517, 061 listeners, they beat out 2nd place winner, BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom,” which has 5460,000 listeners. “Shut Down” followed up with 400,000 listeners. Even the two hottest songs of the year, IVE‘s “Love Dive” and “ELEVEN” couldn’t beat it.
The Melon chart is an important one, given that it is one of South Korea’s largest streaming platforms with millions of monthly users. Fans should be proud as they also beat out many boy groups to clinch number two on the fastest record to end their shift. The number one place is currently held by BIGBANGs’ Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.
