Popular Idol’s “Low” Chart Performance Despite Massive Following Gains Attention

“For the arts, not the charts.”

While music is an art form, metrics related to it are often used to measure success. Although not an indicator of talent, metrics such as chart performance, streaming, and album sales can significantly impact a performer’s future releases and promotions.

Following its release, the song debuted with 88,020 streams on Spotify, and currently has 187,303 streams three days after.

Many reacted with surprise to the amount of streams, citing Chuu’s popularity. Chuu currently has 2.7 million followers on Instagram on her main account, and is well-known amongst K-Pop fans for her bubbly personality in appearances on programs.

Some considered this a question of “hype” not matching performance, furthering the discussion.

Others felt that that this debut was still a good amount for a solo artist, and that streaming across all platforms had better performance.
