Japanese Fans Show Mixed Reactions to IZ*ONE’s “Produce 48” Controversy

They’re supporting IZ*ONE while criticizing Korean culture.

In light of PD Ahn Joon Young’s confession to manipulating the final rankings of Produce 48 and Produce X 101, IZ*ONE is facing controversies due to the fact that they were formed through Produce 48 back in 2018.

According to the reports, PD Ahn Joon Young denied allegations of manipulation of the first two Produce seasons, but admitted to that of Produce 48 and Produce X 101.

In response to the news, Japanese fans have been showing mixed reactions.

On one hand, Japanese netizens have been criticizing Korean culture as the reason why such an incident took place.

This isn’t surprising since the entire nation is fabricated.

Their history, culture, and variety are all fabricated. Is there anything that isn’t?

The fabrication is Korean culture. How can anyone deny that?

– Japanese Netizens

But at the same time, they’re rooting for IZ*ONE and hoping that this doesn’t harm the members in any way.

This isn’t surprising, but I hope IZ*ONE’s efforts weren’t in vain.

I hope the AKB 48 members realize that Korea is no big deal.

This isn’t surprising since Korea is all about fabrication. But the members of IZ*ONE did nothing wrong since all they did was work hard. It’s just the people around them. It seems like Korean entertainment is mostly like that, but I hope they don’t disappoint the innocent members.

– Japanese Netizens

While many are putting the blame on the producers and executives of the show, fans are rooting for IZ*ONE and hoping they won’t have to pay the price.
