Female Streamer Pleads Guilty To Having Blackmailed Top-Tier Male Idol

She had threatened to release recordings of their sexual intercourse.

A streamer in her 30s, hereafter referred to as “A,” was accused of extorting approximately ₩800 KRW (about $0.55 USD) (around USD 600,000) worth of goods from idol and musical actor JYJ‘s Kim Junsu, admitted her wrongdoing during her final statement in the appellate trial.

The Seoul High Court’s Criminal Division 10-1 held the first hearing of the appeal trial for A on April 10, 2025. She was charged for exortion. In her statement, she sought forgiveness from Junsu.

“I sincerely apologize and seek forgiveness from the victim, who has been hurt and suffered because of me. I swear on my life that I will never again cause the same harm to the victim. Even after the trial ends, I want to live my life contributing to society while apologizing to the victim for the rest of my life. I will never repeat the same mistake again.”

A’s lawyer requested a reduced sentence, citing her unstable family background and circumstances. In February, the Uijeongbu District Court’s Criminal Division 11 (Presiding Judge Oh Chang-seop) sentenced A to seven years in prison. A filed an appeal.

The prosecution, however, requested the court to dismiss A’s appeal and uphold the original sentence of seven years in prison.

A is accused of blackmailing Kim Junsu from September 2020 to November of last year, threatening to release recorded files of their sexual intercourse, conversations, and more. She admitted to having done so in order to pay off her dad’s hospital bills for prostate cancer treatment, as well as to feed her drug addiction.
