Red Velvet’s Yeri Confesses To Breaking Down In Tears During SM Entertainment Departure
In her latest interview, Red Velvet member Yeri candidly talked about the stress she felt while leaving SM Entertainment (SM hereon) earlier this year.
On August 8, KST, Yeri appeared as a guest on Hyeri‘s YouTube show, Hyell’s Club, and talked about the emotional night when her contract with SM expired.
During her conversation with Hyeri, the Red Velvet maknae revealed that she and her current manager had similar personalities, and that’s why they got along well. This led to the topic of changing agencies, and Hyeri showed her understanding about the pressure that comes with such a move.
“At that time, I really felt like I was finally standing on my own,” Hyeri said, recalling her own experience of switching her management agencies. When she asked Yeri about her experience, she responded, saying that initially she expected not to have a big reaction to the change due to her mellow personality.
However, “as things started getting closer,” Yeri confessed, her emotions changed. The end of her contract with SM overlapped with the end of her drama filming as well. “I hadn’t taken any meetings during that time,” she recalled, adding that she didn’t get the chance to plan things in advance since she was not good at multitasking.
Hence, right after finishing her drama, Yeri had to rush through all the procedures to shift agencies. “It became stressful,” she confessed, adding, “I was crying a lot while drinking makgeoli.”
The pressure built up to such a point that she completely broke down. “Since it was my choice, I had to make the decision and all that,” Yeri recalled, confessing that in that moment she realized she had failed her gauging her own reaction to the situation properly. Fortunately, she had people around her to reach out for help.
Having endured such a stressful transition seems to have proven its worth to Yeri, since the singer-actress confessed that she was satisfied with her current agency.
