“Missing” Idol Reemerges On Instagram, Breaking 5-Year Silence Amid Disappearance Rumors

“OMG. He’s alive!!!”

SECHSKIES member Kim Jaeduck (also known as Kim Jaeduk or Kim Jaeduc) rang in 2026 with a long-awaited Instagram update, his first in five years.

On January 1, the OG K-Pop boy group member uploaded a single photo of a sunlit beach…

…and while it came without any caption or details, the update was more than enough for SECHSKIES fans. In a short clip shared via Stories, too, Kim Jaeduck could be seen walking toward the patio to take the photo, reflected in a glass window.

While Kim Jaeduck was previously active on social media, he has since dropped off the grid, last posting about his dog, Sanduck, on May 1, 2021.

Even his fellow SECHSKIES members were unaware of his whereabouts, as Eun Jiwon and Jang Suwon were unable to reach him by phone in a 2024 episode of KBS‘s Mr. House Husband.

Eun Jiwon: Should we go check on him or something…? But I actually don’t even know where he lives.

Jang Suwon: I don’t know either.

As his prolonged silence fueled “disappearance” rumors, H.O.T member Tony An—well known as Kim Jaeduck’s roommate for 16 years and longtime “rival” in the K-Pop industry—revealed in 2025 that he was currently in Busan. Within months, Jang Suwon also shared an update on Kim Jaeduck, noting, “He does respond, but very sporadically.”

If I send a message, it might take him three weeks or a month to respond with ‘What do you need?’ If I reply again, it could be another month. So I don’t really worry about him anymore.

That being said, it’s understandable why Kim Jaeduck’s reemergence on Instagram is being celebrated as it is!
