Actor Song Joong Ki Addresses His “Most Talked About” Kiss Scene

KBS‘s Gag Concert was a comedy program, not a K-Drama. But one particular skit from 2011 remains one of actor Song Joong Ki‘s most fan-favorite works to this day!

And in the latest episode of comedian Park Na Rae‘s YouTube show, “Naraesik,” Song Joong Ki addressed his Gag Concert appearance—and, of course, the unforgettable “kiss scene” in a segment called “The Discovery of Life” with comedian Shin Bo Ra.

Park Na Rae mentioned how the kiss scene was all the buzz among all her fellow female comedians after the episode aired. When asked if it was scripted, because Shin Bo Ra looked so flabbergasted by the kiss…

Park Na Rae: There was some buzz among the female comedians back then because of you, Joong Ki. Out of all the works in your filmography, that kiss scene with Shin Bo Ra on “Gag Concert” was talked about so much.

Song Joong Ki: Yeah, I remember going on “Gag Concert” to promote the movie Penny Pinchers, and for me it was such a fun experience. I got to see how amazing comedians are. I felt like everyone was helping each other’s performances, and that moved me.

…the now-married actor said it was, in fact, scripted and even rehearsed—but Shin Bo Ra got extra shy when it was show time!

Park Na Rae: But originally, that cheek kiss wasn’t part of rehearsal, was it?

Song Joong Ki: It was. I think there was at least one kiss during the rehearsal. Bo Ra acted so well that I thought she was really outgoing, but in reality, she was very shy. I just followed the script and gave her a peck on the cheek, and her face turned bright red. I remember improvising another kiss, and her face turned red all over again.

Understandable, though. Who would not react like Shin Bo Ra when it’s Song Joong Ki’s kiss on the cheek? The skit, posted in 2019, has since garnered over 3.2M views:
