Suzy And Kim Seon Ho’s Upcoming K-Drama Team Under Fire For Irresponsible Filming
The production team of Delusion, an upcoming Disney+ K-Drama starring Suzy and Kim Seon Ho, recently got into huge trouble after filming in Jeju Island.
On September 17, KST, the Aewol-eup Office of Jeju City announced that it had imposed a ₩1.00 million KRW (about $724 USD) on the production company for leaving trash behind in a natural forest in Jeju Island. This fine was levied in response to a social media user who posted a video of the forest in Jeju last month, documenting the trash allegedly left behind by the crew after a filming schedule. The video showed heaps of plastic bags full of garbage dumped right in the middle of the forest. Some plastic bottles and custom coffee cup holders with the actors’ names were found scattered around as well.
The production company has been fined in accordance with Article 68, Clause 3 of the Waste Control Act and Article 38-4 of its Enforcement Decree. Despite discovering butane gas canisters at the trash site, the authorities stated that there was no evidence of fire usage at the scene. Since the possession of flammable materials is only restricted during designated wildfire-prevention periods, they couldn’t legally fine the production team any further.
The initial video documenting the trash at the national forest sparked a huge outcry from the public, prompting the production team of Delusion to issue an official apology and an explanation. They claimed that they were able to clean the site properly because filming ended late and it had gotten dark. “Once we realized the situation, we immediately apologized to the filming location and related authorities and cleaned everything up. The site has since been fully restored,” the production team stated in their official apology.
Meanwhile, Delusion is an upcoming mystery romance set in 1935 colonial era Seoul, which follows Yoon Yi Ho (Kim Seon Ho), a painter who is commissioned to paint the portrait of a mysterious woman, Song Jeong Hwa (Suzy) and discovers some hidden truths about her in the process. The drama os set to release in 2026.
