Ahead of TXT‘s comeback, the group had an in-depth interview with Esquire Korea. While talking about himself as a leader, Soobin talked about admiring BTS‘s RM and what he’s learned along the way.
At the mention of his strengths, Soobin remained humble by admitting his faults. He candidly said, “I don’t think I’m the perfect leader who’s solid, confident, and with everything in my head. I recently said that I admire RM, and he’s really like that.”
Soobin admired RM for his diverse interests and thought process in leading BTS. He acknowledged how different they were, “He has an incredibly deep range of thoughts in all areas and confidence in his own tastes and directions. I don’t think I can become a leader like that.”
Rather than following his senior’s lead, Soobin realized that he could only be the best version of himself. After all, that’s the person who the TXT members feel comfortable with and go to whenever they need a leader.
But one thing that I can say that I’m confident in is that I’m a comfortable person.
At least to my members, I believe that we have a relationship where they feel the most comfortable whenever they’re with me or feel disarmed just by talking with me.
Every group has a different path to follow. Soobin proved he’s a strong leader by being inspired by RM but focusing his leadership style on what TXT needs from him and what he does best.
