Lily previously announced via YouTube that she would be starting a book club!

Her sister helped come up with the name of the club, Lily’s Lost The Plot.

The first book that Lily and her fans will read is the 1997 fantasy novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. She explained that she chose it because she loved the story since childhood.

Lily also updated via the bubble for JYPnation app. She bought a 20th-anniversary copy of the book.

Lily added that she bought the book secondhand, and she encouraged others to do the same.

Fans praised her for not just being “real” with them. They applauded her for buying secondhand rather than new.

Of course, buying secondhand is always a good choice. You not only save money, but it’s better for the environment, helping to decrease waste. These were not the reasons that garnered attention among netizens, though.

Harry Potter series author J.K. Rowling came under fire back in 2020 when she posted a series of tweets about the transgender community. It all started when she shared an op-ed piece that used the phrase “people who menstruate” rather than “women.”

Naturally, netizens were shocked to see the author write something so anti-inclusive. It felt like it went against everything she stood for. Yet, she only made it worse by “defending” herself…

Previously, J.K. Rowling also tweeted her support for Maya Forstater. According to Forstater, “I lost my job for speaking out on women’s rights and gender self ID on social media.”

For people who don’t know: last December I tweeted my support for Maya Forstater, a tax specialist who’d lost her job for what were deemed ‘transphobic’ tweets. She took her case to an employment tribunal, asking the judge to rule on whether a philosophical belief that sex is determined by biology is protected in law. Judge Tayler ruled that it wasn’t.

These tweets upset not only LGBTQIA+ fans but the cast of the worldwide famous Harry Potter films, including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Eddie Redmayne.

So, netizens believe that Lily’s reason for buying secondhand was that she did not want J.K. Rowling to receive any royalties from the copies she and fans purchase, knowing her transphobic history.

Lily is known to be a proud LGBTQIA+ ally. She previously went viral for talking about her love for the BL series Heartstopper.
