Actor Won Bin, one of Korea’s most famous and elusive stars, has recently been making headlines for his connection to the late actress Kim Sae Ron.
On February 16, Kim Sae Ron was found dead at her home in Seoul at age 24, and her death was subsequently ruled a suicide. Won Bin personally sent a wreath of condolence flowers and attended Kim Sae Ron’s wake. According to media reports, he appeared distraught and left quickly due to the attention his presence was attracting.
Won Bin’s last film was The Man from Nowhere, a 2010 film that co-starred Kim Sae Ron and contributed to her meteoric rise as a child star. Kim Sae Ron won two “Best Actress” awards for her role at the Korean Film Awards and the Max Film Awards, and she was nominated for a third at the Baeksang Arts Awards. The Man from Nowhere also became Korea’s highest-grossing film in 2010.
Back in 2017, Korean media reported that Won Bin had quit smoking because of Kim Sae Ron. While filming The Man from Nowhere, he had to work closely with Kim Sae Ron, who was only 10 at the time. Out of consideration for her, he quit smoking and reportedly remained a non-smoker even after the filming ended.
Recently, a section from the original article resurfaced and went viral on Korean social media, with netizens praising Won Bin and mourning Kim Sae Ron.

Won Bin’s past gifts to Kim Sae Ron, which were given soon after they filmed together, have also resurfaced. These gifts include a pink laptop, a plush toy, a hairbrush, and a blanket.
