BLACKPINK’s Upcoming Title Track “Shut Down” Is Sampled From One Of The Most Famous Pieces In Classical Music

Can you guess the title?

BLACKPINK is returning to the music scene with their second full length album, BORN PINK. Out of the eight songs included, the title track was none other than “Shut Down.”

Though the song will still be released in the coming week, the hype around it shows no signs of dying. In fact, it increased even more when new details surrounding the nature of the songs were posted. Unlike “Lovesick Girls,” the main track on The Album, the upcoming title track will be less melodramatic and more dark and mysterious.

Another important hint was revealed regarding its general sound. “Shut Down” will apparently give a big nod to an iconic figure in the world of classical music: Niccolò Paganini (1782-1840). BLACKPINK’s producers, Teddy and 24, sampled his famous piece “La Campanella.”

The song is a sampling of Paganini’s ‘La Campanella’ through which it maximizes the dark and mysterious aura the original song embodies.

Niccolò Paganini | Biography

“La Campanella” (translated to “Little Bell” in English) was taken from Paganini’s final movement in Violin Concerto No. 2. It is known for its demanding solo passages and bell-like effects.

Moreover, it is also considered one of the most difficult pieces to play on the piano in the history of music.

YG Entertainment took this sound and incorporated it into BLACKPINK’s upcoming title track, resulting in a unique mix of classical music from the past and hip hop sounds that the company is known for at present.

The harmony of classical and trendy hip hop beats leaves a memorable impression, and the addictive melody and witty lyrics come together to offer listeners the kind of excitement that only ‘SHUT DOWN’ can.
