A terrible miscommunication at Yeste Hotel in China recently resulted in a tragedy.
51-year-old Hu died at after staff reportedly held onto his medicine for five hours without delivering it.
Hu had asked a friend, Han Shun, to fetch his medicine for high blood pressure and angina, which arrived at the front desk around 9:40 a.m.
Han provided only Hu’s surname and nickname, and hotel staff refused to deliver the medicine, citing privacy concerns. Five hours later, a hotel cleaner found Hu’s body in his room.
Hu’s family blamed the hotel for failing to check on their guest or ensure he received the medicine. Online users debated the hotel’s responsibility versus the friend’s role, with some criticizing the staff for not going “the extra mile.”
