A Past Interview From 10 Years Ago Reveals IU Has Reached All Her Goals

A true artist.

Singer IU has truly become a self-made artist who started from the bottom and made her way to the top as one of the most loved solo female artists in the industry.

A previous interview from ten years ago resurfaced on online community boards revealing that she had reached all the goals that she had made.

Let’s take a look at IU’s answers!

What kind of person will you be in 10 years?

I think I will be performing as a mainstream singer. I want to perform really good music that will make people feel comfortable so that while they are listening they can think about the music with a comfortable heart. I’ve been listening to John Mayer’s music recently and I’ve learned through him that you can make someone a fan just with your voice. I like people that have their own space that other cannot touch. I want to be that way.

What kind of singer do you want to be in the future?

Well, if you think about it, I am doing something that consumes me. So I want to consume myself in a wise way. I want to be a singer who makes music in a confident and smart way. Being a celebrity shouldn’t feel like you’re in shackles. I have to be the one that is happy.

Is there any type of music genre that you want to try?

I want to play acoustic music at least once. Although I like to sing, I’ve never been stuck in one genre. Then I fell in love with acoustic music and I can’t get out of it. But that’s not this album. I will prepare thoroughly and release the perfect album. It’s nothing to rush about so I’m just taking my time. You don’t have to be greedy for something you can’t do.

What kind of song do you want to sing?

I want to sing songs that I want to do. How amazing would it be to create a song that’s just for me and have the public acknowledge it too? I am currently in the process of reaching my goal. When I imagine myself being in the industry for a long time, I would probably be singing until I’m 60, which is way older than how much I’ve lived so far, so I am in no rush to be greedy.

What talent do you wish you had besides singing?

Charisma! I lack charisma. People who like my live singing say that I ‘ate CDs’ saying that my live and my CD sound the same. But if the CD and my lives singing sound the same, there’s no need for me to do live performances. I don’t think I have the charisma that comes out for live performances. I want to hear that my live is better rather than ‘she ate CDs’. But I am always disappointed. I don’t think I was ever satisfied.
