He had never thought that he would be saying goodbye to his longtime friend and family member.

“I remember helping Joo Hyuk set up the funeral for his father and mother… I never dreamt that I would be setting up a funeral for him with my own hands.

It’s been an hour since I arrived home from burying Joo Hyuk… I’m writing this with an empty feeling while sitting in my car.”

Kim Dong Shik brought the readers to tears as his aching heart could be felt through every one of his words.

Take a look at his full letter below.

“It felt as if the world had stopped during the past 4 days.

I was separated from the world, and I didn’t know what the weather was like outside, what time it was, if I was hungry, or if I had even eaten.

I couldn’t think of my daughter worrying for me or think about my family. I solely kept my place at the funeral with one person in mind.

I remember helping Joo Hyuk set up the funeral for his father and mother… I never dreamt that I would be setting up a funeral for him with my own hands.

It’s been an hour since I arrived home from burying Joo Hyuk… I’m writing this with an empty feeling while sitting in my car.

I met Joo Hyuk 19 years ago, and have worked with him for 16 years. I wanted to write about the happy memories we’ve built together, about how elegant of an actor he was, and about how nice and cute of a younger brother he was to me… but I won’t.

I’m afraid that if I write it down, the heavy burden of our friendship will become light. I’m afraid if I write about the happy memories we built together, those memories will be easily forgotten and blown away in the wind.

I will treasure these memories deep inside my heart forever.

This happy photo that we took last Friday was the last photo of our time together.

He was a good younger brother to me, a fun uncle to my daughter, and a proud member of our family.

I’m trying to think of all the delayed work that I have to get back to, but all I can think of is how I can complete all the burial ceremonies left with my whole heart.

I can’t stop crying. I can’t stop crying. So many happy memories I had spent with Joo Hyuk are coming back to me as I write this, but I can’t stop crying.

I love you and I will never forget you. Thank you, my brother.”
