LE SSERAFIM’s Eunchae Shares Mother’s Touching Response To Her Request To Be An Idol
Being a K-Pop idol is not for the faint of heart. A chance to debut requires a lot of hard work and dedication, trainees work tirelessly to meet the high standards of the industry and secure a chance to debut. This is one of the reasons idols may not immediately receive the support of their loved ones in the pursuit of their dreams.
The members of LE SSERAFIM have been busy promoting their debut album, FEARLESS. The group has had an impressive debut, setting the record for the most first-week sales of any K-Pop girl group debut album. They also entered the U.S. Billboard Global 200 chart with the song, “FEARLESS.”
To give fans a chance to get to know them better, the members have been releasing individual interviews with Weverse. The youngest member, Eunchae, was up next and recounted how her love of dancing turned into a desire to be a K-Pop idol. When asked how she became interested in dancing, the young member shared that she often took the opportunity to perform at school talent shows and K-Pop was popular among her peers. She continued, “I learned K-pop dances in an after-school class when I was in elementary school, and I said to the teacher, ‘I love dancing. What should I do to learn more?’”
Her teacher advised her to enter a dance academy to pursue her dream more seriously. Eunchae shared that even though she had a close relationship with her mom, she was nervous to ask her directly about taking steps towards becoming an idol. She instead gathered the courage to send a long message to her mother about her dream on Kakao Talk.
Her mother responded by letting Eunchae know she would consider it, with the hardships of being an idol in mind. To Eunchae, it seemed like her mother was deliberating allowing her to pursue this dream. The reality was that Eunchae’s mother had actually contacted the dance academy as soon as she read her daughter’s message. Eunchae was then able to study dance at the popular Def Music Academy in Korea and eventually became the maknae of LE SSERAFIM!
While her mother showed support and encouragement in Eunchae’s dream, her brother had a response only a sibling could have.
I have an older brother and we’re close enough that we video call all the time, but he’s more excited that I’m debuting with Chaewon than anything else.

LE SSERAFIM continues to captivate with their debut performances and recently took home their first music show win for their track, “FEARLESS.”
