MAMAMOO’s Hwasa Opens Up About Being Catholic Yet Believing In Many Religions

MAMAMOO‘s Hwasa opened up about her religious beliefs in an interview with Marie Claire Korea following her photoshoot for luxury brand Louis Vuitton.

In the interview, she was asked to show off her favorite items in the world, and one of them happened to be a Bible. She explained that it was given to her as a gift from a close friend.

I have an episode regarding this one, too. The friend I mentioned when talking about the wallet. She gave me the Holy Bible as a gift.

According to the singer, she is outwardly Catholic, hence her baptismal name “Maria.” In practice, however, she doesn’t conform to a single religion. She further went on to say she “likes all religions in general.”

I’m Catholic on the outside, but in practice, I don’t have a religion. Rather than believing in one religion, I seem to like all religions in general.

On that note, she visits temples and reads the Christian Bible intently. The Bible’s lines touch her and give her comfort. Rather than restricting herself to just one religion, she prefers to practice many of them.

For example, I feel very relaxed at a temple. Although I’m not Christian, I read the Bible line by line when I get a chance, and it really soothes my mind. I was deeply touched by the comfort this book gave me.
