“Reply 1997” Actor Opposed Seo In Guk’s Casting Because He Disliked His Face
In the upcoming episode of SBS’s My Ugly Duckling, the main cast of Reply 1997 will be reunited on screen 12 years after the show’s release.
Reply 1997, the first installment of the Reply series, was released in 2012. That year, it became one of the highest-rated K-Dramas in cable television history and won critical acclaim for its well-researched and intricate script.
The K-Drama also brought its actors, Eun Ji Won, Lee Si Eon, and Seo In Guk, closer to real life. With this SBS show, the three will be reunited on camera after nearly a year.
Though the entire episode is yet to be released, the teaser showed the three actors’ real-life chemistry as they spent a summer vacation together.
One of the candid moments caught in the teaser was Eun Ji Won making a surprising revelation about the casting of Reply 1997. Before the filming began, Lee Si Eon had apparently strongly opposed the casting of Seo In Guk in the drama. The actor himself admitted that “at that time, I didn’t like Seo In Guk’s face.”
Standing true to their friendly banter, Seo immediately retorted by revealing some embarrassing stories from Lee Si Eon’s past, leaving everyone in the room rolling on the floor.
Those fun stories and more will be revealed on SBS’s My Ugly Duckling on September 22, 9:05 PM KST.
