Super Junior’s Donghae And Eunhyuk Explain Why They Created Their Own Company And How Their Fellow Members Reacted

The two Super Junior members left SM Entertainment in July 2023.

Super Junior is currently 18 years into their career, and the members delighted fans when it was announced they would be renewing their contracts with SM Entertainment for group activities.

While six of the active Super Junior members renewed their contracts with SM for their individual activities, it was announced that Donghae, Eunhyuk, and Kyuhyun had left their longtime company at the end of their contracts to sign with other companies for their individual promotions.

The veteran K-Pop group became one of K-Pop’s examples of a group that stays together, even when individual members join new companies.

Super Junior’s maknae, Kyuhyun, signed with Antenna, while Donghae and Eunhyuk set up their own agency, ODE Entertainment.

Recently, Donghae and Eunhyuk released a video explaining why they created their new agency and how their fellow members reacted.

Eunhyuk explained that when they promoted as their subunit, Super Junior D&E, it gave them a lot of time to talk, and they both realized they had similar thoughts about their career and wanted to “make a new vision for [themselves].

Eunhyuk shared that he and Donghae both feel a “heavier sense of responsibility” as co-CEOs, but Donghae assured fans that they are determined to pave a “new, fun path” while putting more care into the field they’ve been working in.

In their Q&A, Donghae and Eunhyuk also revealed how their fellow members reacted to news of their new company.

Donghae revealed that Heechul was the first to give them a gift, sending a new fridge to their office.

They shared that the other members expressed their intentions to also send gifts and that they had offered them advice, congratulations, and “many jokes.

Eunhyuk playfully suggested a few gift ideas for their fellow members to buy, showing how close the 18-year group remains.

In a separate interview, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun also opened up about why he decided to leave SM Entertainment.
