Mingyu is known for being caring and genuine when it comes to interactions with fans, but sometimes, his kindness can be taken for granted. Recently, the idol’s reaction to a “disrespectful” sign has received praise.

On May 4, SEVENTEEN held a special event for CARATs after the release of their latest album. As expected, Mingyu was interacting with the lucky fans attending and flaunted his visuals.

Yet, a video gained attention, in which Mingyu was seen in the crowd, and after he saw a banner, he pushed it down before walking off. Although he still had a smile, netizens believed that it was something negative, and Mingyu was showcasing professionalism and boundaries.

After seeing the video, even without the context of the banner, they praised Mingyu for standing his ground and hated how some netizens always seemed to take him for granted, treating him in a way that wasn’t respectful.

On May 7, netizens found the actual poster that Mingyu was reacting to, and it had photos of Mingyu from various lives and promotions, with the words “Potato country” and “Thumbelina Kim Mingyu” on it.

While the OP didn’t seem to see anything wrong with the sign, CARATs shared their anger at what was written, pointing out how Mingyu has stated multiple times how uncomfortable he is about “potato” jokes, along with how his hair looked in that particular photo.

Many fans believe Mingyu is one of the sweetest idols, but hate how netizens mistake that for acting in a way that isn’t appropriate.
