A 54-year-old man has been arrested and is now under investigation for the murder of a 52-year-old singer.

On February 23, the unnamed victim–a married mother of three and part-time singer–was found by her female housemate, who had not heard from her since February 21, in a pool of blood in their shared rented house. The victim had been renting a room in the house–located in Taman Seri Mangga, a small town in Malaysia–with her boyfriend for six months.
The housemate had heard the couple arguing on the night of February 21, but she didn’t suspect anything out of the ordinary at first. Two days after the argument, she decided to check in on the victim. When she opened the door to the victim’s room, she saw the deceased victim and the victim’s boyfriend, who was injured. The man was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to the hospital for treatment.

“The sharp weapons allegedly used by the suspect have been also recovered,” said Central Melaka District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit on February 24. He was referring to two knives that are believed to have been used in the attack.
At this time, the police believe the suspect’s motive was jealousy.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between the victim and the suspect while the motive is suspected to be due to jealousy.
