“…leave this useless company.”

ASTRO member Cha Eunwoo is currently facing serious allegations of tax evasion. According to reports, he was notified by the National Tax Service that he owes over ₩20.0 billion KRW (about $13.7 million USD) in additional taxes, including income tax, on charges of tax evasion.

While the news has put the idol-actor under significant scrutiny, many have also directed heavy criticism toward his management agency, Fantagio. In their statement reaffirming the validity of Cha Eunwoo’s one-person agency, his legal representatives stated that his mother felt the need to protect her son’s career from the instability at Fantagio.

Due to frequent changes in Fantagio’s leadership, Cha Eunwoo’s mother felt the need to protect her son’s entertainment activities and therefore established a company to directly operate a management business. The company is not a paper company, but a legally registered cultural and entertainment management agency.

Hence, fans are considering the current allegations against Eunwoo as a direct fault of Fantagio’s inadequate management. Many also felt that the company failed to protect the image of its artist by letting the issue get to this point.

While the tax issue is yet to be resolved, many fans expressed hope that it would push Eunwoo to leave Fantagio’s management next year and find a more suitable agency.
