K-Pop Heartthrob Sparks Major Concerns With His Gaunt Appearance

Once acknowledged as the most handsome face in K-Pop, Sechs Kies member Ko Ji Yong‘s current appearance has left fans concerned about his health.

The 46-year-old former idol recently shared his whereabouts through a live broadcast on his social media after a long hiatus from the public eye. Sporting a grey hoodie and a pair of glasses, he communicated with fans in a relaxed manner.

However, fans were alarmed by Ko’s extremely thin appearance with visibly sunken cheeks. Many even admitted that they couldn’t recognize him at first glance. Though the former idol received many questions about his health and weight loss during the live broadcast, he didn’t address any of them.

This isn’t the first time Ko Ji Yong’s appearance has caused concern among his fans. Last year, when he appeared on KBS2‘s Mr. House Husband Season 2, viewers were baffled to see how thin and exhausted he looked. During that broadcast, Ko had revealed that his extreme weight loss was due to excessive alcohol and fatigue. He also added, “Two years ago, my liver function rapidly declined, leading to hospitalization. At that time, my weight dropped to 63 kg at 180 cm height.”

Ko Ji Yong, who made his debut in 1997 with Sechs Kies, retired from K-Pop after the group’s disbandment. He shifted to the field of real estate and finance, while sporadically appearing on variety shows. He is currently managing his business related to the food service industry.
