80-Year-Old Actor Accidentally Gives Update On His 6-Year-Old Son Born Out Of Wedlock
Back in 2021, it was revealed that veteran actor Kim Yong Gun, then 75, was expecting a child with a woman 39 years his junior after a long-term relationship.
The situation sparked controversy when she alleged that he initially urged her to have an abortion, though he later admitted he had suggested it out of fear before changing his mind and deciding to take responsibility. The child was born later that year, and a 2022 DNA test confirmed him as the father. Kim Yong Gun formally acknowledged his son and has since been supporting and co-parenting, with public opinion remaining divided over the circumstances.
That said, the actor made a comment in a new teaser for TV Chosun‘s Joseon’s Lover, offering an unexpected update on his life as a father.
In the teaser, Kim Yong Gun brings up his late-in-life child during a filmed meeting with his daughter-in-law, actress Hwang Bo Ra. During the conversation, Kim Yong Gun nearly referred to his grandson by his youngest son’s name—calling him “Si On” rather than “Woo In.”
Drawing attention to the mix-up, Kim Yong Gun said, “My little one’s name is Si On. He’s grown a bit now, so rather than me taking care of him, I end up following him around.” The comment ended up highlighting a fatherly side as he spoke about his now six-year-old son.
Woo In is still a baby, so you have to keep your eyes on him. But my boy’s already six years old.
