According to the media, the idol group’s producer had used unnecessary and extreme measures to train the members, such as physically assaulting them with baseball bats and metal microphones or tying guitar strings around their necks during guitar practice.

To make the situation worse, CEO Kim Chang Hwan not only condoned the behavior but was allegedly in the habit of swearing and threatening the boys as well.

In response to these reports, Media Line Entertainment issued an official statement, which began with an apology and explanation.

“We apologize for causing an inconvenience. This was the first time we became aware of the fact that the producer responsible for The East Light had used violence during the guidance/training of the members 1 year and 4 months ago. We have since peacefully resolved the issue with the members’ parents and promised not to let such events from happening again.” ㅡ Media Line Entertainment

The agency continued to explain that the producer in question will be taking responsibility for his actions and has expressed his intentions to resign.

“Although such incidents were not repeated, it seems that we’ve run into this situation due to a few members who were deeply hurt. The producer in question has expressed his intention to resign as a means of taking responsibility for his actions.” ㅡ Media Line Entertainment

Media Line Entertainment, however, denied the reports which claimed that CEO Kim Chang Hwan verbally abused the idols and instigated the physical assault.

“The CEO has taught or disciplined The East Light members with affection like a parent for the past 4 years since their trainee days but he has never instigated or aided in acts of physical violence. He is deeply regretful of not being able to understand the members more fully in the past.” ㅡ Media Line Entertainment
