While BTS are global superstars, they also have had moments where they have fanboyed. Here are 4 times BTS couldn’t restrain themselves and let their inner fanboys slip out.
1. BTS fanboying over rapper Drake
The BTS members are big fans of rapper Drake, and they couldn’t contain their excitement when they saw him at the 2019 GRAMMY Awards. When Drake won the “Best Rap Song” award, several members recorded his speech on their phones!
BTS also got to interact with Drake at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, and as soon as they saw him, they had big smiles on their faces.
Drake shook the members’ hands and even told them that he would host for them the next time they’re in Canada!
After Drake left, the members couldn’t help but let out their inner fanboys!
2. Jungkook being shy when meeting singer Tori Kelly
Jungkook is a fan of singer Tori Kelly, and he did a cover of her song “Paper Hearts” in 2015.
BTS met Tori Kelly at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, and RM told her about Jungkook.
You know, he (Jungkook) did a cover. ‘Paper Hearts.’
It turns out that Tori Kelly had heard Jungkook’s cover. After she said this, Jungkook got nervous and shyly touched his ears!
3. Suga shyly talking about director Bong Joon Ho
During BTS’s press conference for their album MAP OF THE SOUL: 7, the members were asked about director Bong Joon Ho’s comment that BTS is much more influential than he is. Bong Joon Ho directed many of the most famous Korean films, such as Parasite, which became the first foreign film to win “Best Picture” at the 2020 Oscars.
Director Bong Joon Ho commented at the Golden Globe Awards that BTS has 3000 times the amount of influence he has. How did you feel when you heard this?
Suga replied by humbly stating that he isn’t sure if they have that big of an influence.
I think he was answering a question regarding Korean culture, and I think [his words were] generous praise. I’m embarrassed because I’m still not sure that we have that big of an influence.
Suga also had a shy smile on his face when he started talking about how much he loves Bong Joon Ho’s work!
I want to say that I watched all of Director Bong Joon Ho’s films as his fan. I was grateful when he mentioned how dynamic Korean culture is. I wish that many great Korean artists can be known overseas. I’m a fan!
4. RM being nervous when meeting rapper Nas
During BTS’s guest appearance in MBC Radio‘s Bae Cheol Soo’s Music Camp, RM revealed that his biggest musical influence has always been rapper Nas.
BTS ended up meeting Nas at the 2020 GRAMMY Awards! RM was extremely nervous, and the members even said they had never seen RM so nervous before!
