Here’s What “Kingdom: Legendary War” Participants Have Been Doing, One Year Later

Kingdom: Legendary War was a MNET reality program featuring six boy groups, modeled after the program Queendom. Stray Kids, IKON, The Boyz, ATEEZ, BTOB, and SF9 all participated in hopes of being crowned the “Kings” of K-Pop.

Regardless of the results, all groups saw success following their appearance on the show!

1. Stray Kids

Stray Kids were the winners of Kingdom and won the reality show prize. Since the final airing Stray Kids have achieved quite a lot!

The group’s most recent album, Oddinary, broke the group’s personal preorder record, selling an amazing 1.3 million albums in advance. Additionally, Stray Kids will be embarking on their second world tour and have announced the North American portion.

So far, the American leg of the tour has sold out nearly all dates!

The group also won several year end awards including a Bonsang (best album award) at the Golden Disc Awards for their Noeasy album!

2. THE BOYZ

THE BOYZ won the Road To Kingdom pre-show and earned their place on Kingdom. Fans loved the groups performances on both shows which led to the group’s second place finish.

After the shows airing, THE BOYZ have had a variety of group and individual schedules!

New and Juyeon were DJs on KBS Cool FM ‘STATION Z’ during the month of October 2021. In March of 2022, THE BOYZ participated in the OST for the Webtoon Solo Leveling with the release of the song “Echo”.

The group’s most recent Korean mini album THRILL-ING sold over 500,000 albums during the first week of sales, doubling the amount from their previous release. “Thrill Ride”, the album’s lead single, also received 5 music show wins.

The Boyz are currently on their The Boyz World Tour: THE B-ZONE concert tour in America, and will also perform in Japan, Europe, Thailand, and Indonesia before their finale in Seoul.

3. ATEEZ

After coming in third place, ATEEZ have had quite the year since Kingdom ended.

In July 2021 members Hongjoong and Yunho, participated in the 2021 Pepsi X Starship K-Pop Campaign by releasing the collaboration single “Summer Taste” with RainMONSTA X, and Brave Girls.

Following the ATEEZ XR Show [Fever: eXtended edition] concert, a special online performance, it was announced that ATEEZ would be going on a world tour called The Fellowship : Beginning of the End in 2022.

The tour began in Seoul on January 7 and concluded in Madrid, Spain in April. The group are speculated to be planning comeback preparations following sightings of special posters in Seoul and the concert venue in Madrid.

ATEEZ also hit 1 billion streams on Spotify during March 2022! Although leader Hongjoong hasn’t been able to watch the group’s performances on the show anymore, fans are still proud of their appearance on the show!

4. BTOB

The oldest group among the participants, BTOB brought a touch of nostalgia for many fans watching Kingdom. Only 4 members participated in Kingdom due to Hyunsik and Sungjae‘s military service. Eunkwang, Minhyuk, Changsub, and Peniel, also known as BTOB 4U, impressed many with their performances, despite the sometimes 33 hour long film schedules.

Since November of 2021, Minhyuk has been the host of KBS Cool FM ‘KISS THE RADIO’ and all six members were guests during the same month.

The group’s third studio album Be Together broke the group’s personal sale record and doubled the sales of their previous album!

BTOB were scheduled to hold their 10th anniversary concert in March 2022, but has been rescheduled to an unknown date. The group performed at KCON’s opening concert in Chicago and are hopefully participants in KCON’s American tour!

5. iKON

Many fans anticipated IKON’s participation in the show!

iKON was awarded the Legend Rookie Prize at the Seoul Music Awards in addition to being nominated for three other awards. 

The group have since release a digital single titled “Why Why Why” and a mini album titled Flashback. The group broke their previous first-week sales record in one day following the release of the mini album!

While the group have yet to embark on a world tour, the group has successfully completed a 21 show tour of Japan and will be performing two nights of concerts in Seoul at the end of June! The group will return to Japan in July following these concerts. Fans have been very happy to see the group’s activities!

6. SF9

SF9 had many great performances throughout their appearance on Kingdom!

Following their participation, SF9 received their fifth music show win for their song “Trama” on Music Bank. The album Rumination also broke the groups record for first week sales.

Several members have participated in acting projects since Kingdom: Chani (Imitation, Jinx), Rowoon (The King’s Affection, Tomorrow), Dawon (Part Time Mellow), and Zuho (Heartbeat Broadcasting Incident). The members also have several upcoming and rumored projects as well!

SF9 hosted a three-day concert series in January 2022 in Seoul, but have not announced plans of future tours as of yet. Rowoon will be holding a solo fan meeting in the Philippines in June!
