Kim Se Ui of the Garo Sero Research Insitute will be placed under arrest for charges of defamation related to Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron‘s relationship.
On May 26 KST, judge Boo Dong Shik of the Seoul Central District Court approved the arrest warrant for Kim Se Ui, who is facing charges of defamation, intimidation, attempted coercion, and distributing footage related to violations of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. Judge Boo Dong Shik cited the risk of destruction of evidence and flight risk as reasoning for his approval of the arrest warrant.
Kim Se Ui has been specifically accused of spreading false information regarding Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron’s relationship, including statements claiming they were in a relationship while Kim Sae Ron was a minor. Police determined that Kim Se Ui used generative AI to manipulate and fabricate false voice recordings. They also concluded that he received screenshots from Kim Sae Ron’s family of KakaoTalk conversations between Kim Sae Ron and an unknown sender, and edited them to show the sender as Kim Soo Hyun.
Kim Se Ui presented himself during the arrest warrant review held earlier today and told reporters upon its conclusion that all of the claims made in support of the arrest warrant are “riddled with false statements and fails to get even the basic facts straight.” He firmly denied all charges.
