THE BOYZ’s Kevin Officially Apologizes For Baseball Team Controversy
THE BOYZ‘s Kevin was recently invited to throw the opening pitch for Kiwoom Heroes, a baseball team based in South Korea.
However, during the event, he ended up holding up a sign on his phone that expressed his wishes to pitch for another team. Kevin held up a note that read, “I hope the day comes when the national anthem is sung in Gwangju, the hometown of the Kia Tigers.”
What was worse is that the OP who had witnessed this added that Kevin even made the font bigger when fans could not see it, and gave a thumbs up to the fans after they confirmed they had read it.
This became a large issue as many found it rude. South Koreans take baseball very seriously, and Kiwoom Heroes fans found it inconsiderate of Kevin to have mentioned a different team at the very event where he was supposed to cheer on Kiwoom Heroes. Kevin issued an apology on April 22, 2025.

First of all, I sincerely apologize to the baseball fans who love the sport and to our fans, THE B.
On April 19th, I was warmly welcomed by the Kiwoom Heroes representatives and was given a meaningful opportunity, for which I’m very grateful. However, during that moment, my careless words and actions caused discomfort to many people. At such a meaningful moment meant to cheer for the Kiwoom players, I made an inconsiderate comment by mentioning another team, and I truly apologize to anyone who was upset by that.
I’ve also personally apologized to my fellow member Eric, who placed great importance on the ceremonial first pitch, and I would like to once again extend my sincere apologies to all Kiwoom fans.
Through this experience, I’ve learned how much of an impact words and actions can have. I will be more mindful and act with greater care moving forward.
