“Chef & My Fridge” MC’s Wife Reveals Why She Secretly Moved To Singapore Without Telling Her Husband

In the upcoming episode of Channel A‘s Family Beyond Borders, the wife of a popular TV personality is set to make a shocking confession.

The celebrity in question is Ahn Jung Hwan, a soccer legend turned entertainer, best known as one of the MCs of Chef & My Fridge.

Episode 81 of Family Beyond Borders, set to air on May 1, KST, will feature MCS Ahn Jung Hwan, Lee Hye Won, Yoo Se Yoon, and Song Jin Woo, along with country representatives Fabien (France), Cristina (Italy), and Chris (USA). The episode will showcase the cast’s intriguing and unique everyday experiences in countries like Singapore, France, and Tunisia, offering viewers a rare look into lifestyles not easily encountered by the general public.

The episode also featured new guests Yoon Ji Young and Tomoyuki, who were dubbed the “Singapore Family.” The Korean-Japanese couple shared that they met when Yoon was working as a model and eventually settled in Singapore.

Lee Hye Won, Ahn Jung Hwan’s wife, then shared that she had also lived in Singapore for two years with her son Ri Hwan. However, when she shifted countries, she didn’t inform her husband at that time.

Explaining her shocking decision, Lee stated that it was for the sake of their son, since Ahn was strictly opposed to the idea of him pursuing music.

At the time, Ahn Jung Hwan was against the idea of Ri Hwan (who plays the trumpet) pursuing music. I wanted to support Ri Hwan in studying music secretly, without his father knowing, so I made the decision to move to Singapore away from Ahn Jung Hwan’s eyes.

“It was partly my choice,” she added, “and partly by circumstance that the two of us ended up living there alone.”

Ahn Jung Hwan admitted that he was stringent about his son pursuing music. “I used to think that choosing music as a career would be hard and lead to a life of struggle,” he explained, adding, “Maybe I was a bit old-fashioned.”

Though Lee made a drastic decision to support their son that went against Ahn’s opinion, she also showed understanding of his perspective. “He also went through a lot as an athlete,” she said, explaining how he had first-hand knowledge of how difficult such a life could be.

Despite their differences of opinion on their son’s upbringing, the couple showcased extraordinary understanding and respect for one another’s point of view, earning praise from viewers.
