Drunk Driver Challenges Police To Catch His Sports Car, Ends Up Having 22 Patrol Vehicles Chase Him

He called up the emergency number himself.

On March 4, KST, Korean media outlets reported on a dramatic DUI case in Daejeon.

The incident occurred on October 19, when a man called the 112 emergency line at around 3 am and told the police to catch his sports car.

I got drunk and I feel like driving. Please do catch me. My car is a sports car, so you won’t catch me.

In response, the police dispatched 22 patrol cars along the possible routes he could take. The chase went on for a long one-and-a-half hours, spanning across nearly 30 kilometers of the Daejeon city.

The suspect was finally caught in a parking lot in the Yuseong-gu district. At that time, his blood alcohol content was 0.1, which was enough to have his license revoked. However, the police found that his driver’s license had already been taken away due to a previous DUI conviction. After getting caught, the suspect told the police that he wanted to take his own life after a fight with his girlfriend.

The Yuseong Police Station, who made this case public On March 4, KST,  booked the man on charges of obstruction of official duties by fraudulent means, driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving without a license.
