Dua Lipa Confessed Who Reached out First Before Her Collaboration with BLACKPINK

“Kiss and Make Up” was originally meant for her solo album.

The worldwide superstar, Dua Lipa revealed the behind story of her collaboration with BLACKPINK.

Dua Lipa and BLACKPINK’s “Kiss and Make Up” is a popular cross-cultural collaboration that came out in late 2018.

It was a big hit that stirred up both the East and the West.

In a recent promotional interview, Dua Lipa revealed that she was the one who proposed the “Kiss and Make Up” collaboration to BLACKPINK.

Dua said, “I performed in Seoul last spring when BLACKPINK’s Jennie and Lisa came to watch.”

She said “Kiss and Make Up” was originally supposed to be for her second album, but once she returned to England and listened to it again, she thought it’d sound great as a collaboration with BLACKPINK.

If that’s true, that means their collaboration proceeded rapidly as soon as the decision was made.

Dua Lipa continued and said, “We exchanged many messages after that. BLACKPINK changed some of my English lyrics to Korean. That’s how the song came about.”

The song that Dua Lipa and BLACKPINK recorded together is a rhythmic dance song.

In the song, BLACKPINK didn’t only feature in it but took responsibility for a large part.

Dua Lipa’s husky voice paired with Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa’s vocals make the listener fall deeply into the song.

When “Kiss and Make Up” was released, it reached number one on iTunes in Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, and more.

On the other hand, YG Entertainment revealed that all BLACKPINK members will release their own solo tracks, which started with Jennie’s “Solo” back in November.
