“Resident Playbook” Go Youn Jung Addresses The Controversial Age Difference Between Her And Jung Joon Won

Actress Go Youn Jung recently shared her thoughts on working with co-star Jung Joon Won for Resident Playbook. They play a couple on the show, with Jung Joon Won playing Gu Do Won, who is both her character’s boss at work, and her brother-in-law.

The surprising buzz of their love line even took the cast and crew by surprise. Go Youn Jung revealed that even the director did not see it coming.
“We didn’t expect to get this much attention. Even the director and writer didn’t see it coming. The actors were flustered too. In our group chat, the cast teased Joon Won oppa, asking, ‘How does it feel to be a superstar, future brother-in-law?’”
With popularity and recognition comes criticism as well. The pairing became controversial due to both the actors’ age difference, the characters’ age difference, and more. Jung Joon Won was born in 1988, while Go Youn Jung in 1996. They have an 8 years age difference. Their characters Oh Yi Young and Gu Do Won also display a similar difference. This difference was a concern for the actors and production team as well.
“We had some concerns because of the age gap, but seeing people say that Yi Young and Do Won made their hearts flutter, it was really rewarding. Joon Won oppa is such a good actor. I found myself really inspired by his performances. I never felt the age difference. He’s really funny on set and keeps things light with his jokes, which made everyone like him. At first, I wasn’t sure how I’d do a romance with someone like that, but he portrayed the calm and upright character so well that it made each scene enjoyable and something to look forward to.”
Fans will be disapointed to hear that Go Youn Jung did not keep in contact with Jung Joon Won after the show ended. She claimed that she hadn’t kept in close touch with him and thus was unable to fully feel the impact of the on-screen couple’s popularity.
