They didn’t hold back when addressing rumors.

Since all seven GOT7 members departed from JYP Entertainment, there have been rumors that the group disbanded.

Yet, no members ever implied such.

In fact, shortly after the group left JYP Entertainment, they released the single “Encore.”

For the past year, the members have been promoting solo projects. Still, they introduced themselves as members of GOT7 and even would promote together.

And, they continually clarified that they were not disbanded in interviews.

Now, the group is officially having a comeback with a new self-titled EP.

GOT7 have also addressed disbandment rumors and more in new interviews with W Korea. The group is featured in the magazine’s June issue.

Leader Jay B has been especially active in making sure GOT7 are able to not only continue but prosper after leaving JYP Entertainment. He has educated himself on legal matters and successfully obtained copyrights and trademarks associated with the group. So, he explained why it was so essential to him to keep GOT7 together.

I gained a lot through GOT7. I felt that if we just separated and continued with our individual activities, we would have wasted the 7 years that we’ve spent under this name… I kept thinking to myself, ‘I can’t let go of this rope. I shouldn’t let go.’

Jay B also touched on working on solo projects and why he feels it’s important to continue returning as GOT7 regardless.

If your individual activities go well, you may think, ‘I can be successful on my own?’ But you’re not successful because of just yourself. We’re able to continue individually because of what we built together over the years. I can’t ever forget where I started from. That’s important.

Jinyoung spoke about how he feels GOT7 can persevere and stand the test of time. He mentioned senior group 2PM as inspiration.

Every team has a different driving force that keeps it going for a long time. I think for GOT7, it’s [our mentality of] ‘the next thing that (they) want to do.’ I’ve felt it while watching 2PM sunbaenims since I was young. ‘How can they be so close to each other and be together for such a long time? They are very ‘solid.’ I think it was possible because Hyungs ‘care.’

He also recognized that no one is without trials. Still, it’s not the end.

It’s likely not possible for us to continue on without any trouble, right? Every water has its ripples. We will keep getting knocked down, but we’ll get back up to find a new road to try. This repetition could be what makes this team last forever.

Rappers Mark Tuan and BamBam especially addressed those who spoke about disbandment rumors for GOT7.

BamBam didn’t hold back. He called out haters, renounced disbandment, and pointed out that he always proudly declared himself a member of GOT7, even while promoting his recent solo albums.

I have nothing to hide. That’s why to those people who said, ‘GOT7 said they didn’t disband, realistically can they gather again as seven?’ I want to tell them, ‘Don’t carelessly judge us as you please and pretend like you are smart. Do you know that? When we go anywhere, when we greet people, we always say GOT7 before saying our names. I am GOT7 BamBam, like this.’

He added that although the foreign members, he, Mark Tuan, and Jackson Wang, may leave Korea for a period to promote individually, they return with no issue for GOT7.

What does the fact that GOT7 has three foreign members have to do with our activities? Even if we go (back) to our hometown, we can simply just come and gather in Korea like this.

Likewise, Mark said that although the members have continually clarified that they were still together, people didn’t understand. So, he hopes to prove it with this current comeback.

If we just say, ‘GOT7 is not disbanded,’ people may not know it well. So we want to show everyone with this comeback.

Mark also addressed mandatory military enlistment for the Korean members. Ahgases speculate that this may be the last full group comeback for a while due to this. Still, Mark reassured that GOT7 is “forever.”

There are members who have to go to the military, and we don’t know what our future activities will be like, but we will be GOT7 forever.

Youngjae added that even if it takes a while for their next comeback, GOT7 will never disband.

It may take a while for the next GOT7 album to come out after this one, but there’ll be no such thing as disbandment. We already decided to do it, so we have to go until the end, right?

— Youngjae

As for how he feels about when people spread false rumors regarding GOT7’s disbandment, he doesn’t let it bother him because he knows the truth!

I really didn’t care/pay much attention about words like ‘Didn’t GOT7 disbanded?’. It’s something that wasn’t true so I didn’t feel bad about it.
