K-Pop Fans Instantly Recognize An Idol On “King Of Masked Singer” From His Imitation Of A Viral Dance

“… Constantly roasting…”

The popular Korean series King of Masked Singer has often featured popular idols and their talented vocals. The premise of the show is that contestants compete while wearing a mask, hiding their identity so they’re only judged based on the quality of their vocals in their performances.

But as detailed as the masks are, idols are typically quickly identified by their fans for their recognizable voices.

Or, as most recently the case, an idol might be identified for their well-known sense of humor. During a recent episode, Stray Kids Seungmin‘s angelic voice was instantly recognizable to fans.

But more hilariously, the idol “confirmed” his identity while both contestants, Seungmin and MIRAE‘s Dongpyo, danced to NewJeans‘ hit song, “Hype Boy.” Seungmin’s interpretation of the dance instantly made fans remember another cover.

While promoting his solo song “Groove Back,” JYP Entertainment founder J.Y. Park performed a viral cover of “Hype Boy.”

And JYP Entertainment artists were quick to mimic his viral moves in their own versions of the cover.

Seungmin, in particular, has been vocal about “roasting” J.Y. Park, even recently opening up about the “incident” that encourages him to tease the founder of JYP Entertainment.

So fans couldn’t stop laughing when they immediately recognized that Seungmin’s cover of “Hype Boy” on King of Masked Singer had a notably J.Y. Park twist. Joking that it’s a hilarious way to identify one of the contestants, even if they’d also been able to identify Seungmin by his singing.
