Korean netizens have been left thoroughly disgusted by a man’s insistent plea for mercy after sexually assaulting his mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
The perpetrator, a man in his 30s referred to as Mr. A, was indicted for sexually assaulting his mother-in-law in September 2020 while lying down to sleep with his wife and her family members at his residence. He then sexually assaulted her again two days later when she was alone in the room.

Mr. A was also charged with raping his sister-in-law in 2024. He reportedly entered her room and forcibly had intercourse with her. Aside from these, he was also charged with assaulting his father-in-law in September 2020. While drinking together, Mr. A allegedly hurled insults at his intoxicated father-in-law and threw a soju bottle at him.
Eventually, the man was dragged to court and sentenced to 13 years in prison on charges including violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes and assaulting a relative. The first-instance court stated, “These crimes exploit the victims’ inability to resist or refuse the defendant’s heinous behavior properly, making the nature of the crimes extremely grave.” It further pointed out, “Despite the victims being family members, the defendant committed adultery with his mother-in-law and sister-in-law to satisfy his sexual desires, and these crimes occurred within the very space they shared.” It further explained the sentencing rationale, stating, “It is doubtful whether the defendant is truly remorseful and sincerely apologetic to the victims.”
Despite the gravity of his crimes, Mr. A filed an appeal and reportedly submitted 23 letters of repentance, pleading for leniency. On January 10, the Chuncheon Division of the Seoul High Court rejected his appeal, upholding the original 13-year prison sentence. The court also ordered him to complete an 80-hour sexual violence treatment program and imposed a 7-year employment restriction at institutions related to children, adolescents, and disabled persons.
The case has left netizens thoroughly appalled, with many demanding even harsher sentencing for him.

- “He was like a dog in heat.”
- “Truly the worst of the worst.”
- “Don’t let that beast out of its cage. You shouldn’t treat creatures like that as if they are humans. When he comes out, he will still be around his 50s.”
- “Why don’t they do chemical castration? Just cut it off… Is that even human? It’s an animal… South Korean laws are so weak… Ugh…”
- “Thirteen years, not 130 years?”
